ExifTool is a platform-independent tool for reading, writing and editing metadata contained in images, audio and video. The application does not have an interface and works through the command line. However, there is an easy way to view the metadata - just drag the media file to the ExifTool executable icon.
ExifTool s many different types of metadata including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AF and ID3. The program is also compatible with data recorded in files by digital camera manufacturers. I love ExifTool for Windows since it's an application that lets me not only read meta information, but also write and edit it no matter what the format is. It's compatible with everything from JPEG to RAW to PDF and even s formats like TIFF. My favorite feature is that it can rename my images according to what the metadata is and then organize them for me too.
