Linux Mint

Linux Mint is an operating system (OS) based on the Ubuntu and Debian distributions. It includes a large number of free useful utilities, s video and audio playback, and allows you to play popular games (Dota 2, Social-Strike: GO and others). And all this works "out of the box": you do not need to spend your time on installing and configuring drivers and system options. In addition, the OS development involves a huge number of people who carefully monitor all the critical errors and problems with the stability of the various services and applications of the distribution.

As in all NIX-systems, Linux Mint has a terminal for command management of tasks. The Gedit utility is used to edit the text. Folders and files are managed through the built-in Nemo file manager, which is actually the heart of the entire OS. In addition, it s opening several tabs in one window, includes advanced file search, allows you to work with built-in archivers and various cloud storage. Mozilla Firefox is used as the browser by default. The LibreOffice software package is responsible for editing and opening documents and can be compared to Microsoft Office. For quick access to all working applications in the OS there is a separate menu, which resembles the "Start" in Windows.

Linux Mint provides a fully operational environment with functional applications immediately after install, saving time on configurations and setups.

Mint along with Ubuntu can be considered a popular Linux distribution with a friendly graphical interface. If you want to get a fully working environment with functional applications right after you install the OS, then Mint definitely deserves your attention.

           Linux isn't really what I was expecting. I heard alot about how there's Linux versions of most programs but really it's not the same. The writing and video programs are way different and not as elegant. The open source concept is pretty cool if you're into coding and stuff like that, but for me it did nothing and I didn't really even bother trying to learn much about it. I'll stick to my standard Windows platform next time!

I found the software installation process to be straightforward and the desktop look and feel to be quite similar to Windows.
